报告题目:Effects of a road in a nature reserve on the logistic diffusion equation

摘 要: We consider the logistic diffusion equation on the entire plane, including a horizontal strip of width $\delta$ and diffusion rate $\sigma$ (either large or small). The mathematical question we try to answer is whether the inclusion of a road with fast diffusion (or a buffer zone with small diffusion) will affect the overall spreading speed of species that usually thrive in domains with moderate diffusion rate. As $\delta\to 0$, we rigorously establish a limiting system with effective boundary conditions on the x-axis, some of which has not appeared in literature. We then investigate the spreading speed of the limiting system. Our result indicates that a road with fast diffusion indeed has a driving effect on the spreading of species, at least in the x-direction, provided the diffusion rate is of the order $\delta^{-1}$. 李慧聪博士个人简介:李慧聪博士于2015年取得美国Tulane University博士学位,并获得Tulane University大学最佳博士论文奖。目前在华东师范大学偏微分方程中心从事博士后工作。主要研究领域是反应扩散方程,已在J. Differential Equations、DCDS-A等数学杂志发表学术论文多篇。
