彭林玉,博士毕业于英国萨里大学 (University of Surrey),现就职于日本早稻田大学(Waseda University)高等研究所。主要研究领域为微分和差分方程的几何与代数结构,信息几何等。在Advances in Mathematics, Studies in Applied Mathematics等期刊上发表学术论文十余篇。

报告摘要:

Symmetries, local groups of transformations, were introduced by Sophus Lie in the 1880s in order to study solutions of ordinary differential equations. It is evidential that symmetries are essential in solving differential equations. For instance, almost all solvable differential equations have symmetries behind the mystery. In this talk, we will give a simple introduction to symmetry methods for differential equations.
